What’s On Live: Dublin in December

Although the incredible city of Dublin is steeped in history, heritage and plenty of attractions, sometimes it’s nice to just look forward to some thoroughly enjoyable evening entertainment that will make your visit to a city all-round worthwhile.

Spend your days exploring Dublin and its surroundings and utilise the evening to enjoy some of the local nightlife and live entertainment. With plenty of hotels in Dublin, you will never be too far from the action, and can stay in the city affordably. Over the coming months, there is plenty to look forward to in terms of live entertainment; whether it is music, comedy or theatrical performances, there is surely something for everyone.

Incredibly popular all over the world, TNA Wrestling arrives at the Dublin National Stadium on the 13th January. Although tickets are selling fast, you can still purchase them online to be part of this amazing evening. Impact Wrestling returns with another sell out arena show, providing live entertainment from the ring, with you enjoying it from ringside seats. Good fun, light hearted and dramatic to the max, TNA Wrestling is an absolute must for all wrestling fans.

With another hugely successful year tucked nicely under her belt, Florence & the Machine says farewell to 2012 in style with a fancy dress party to rival all others. Their final date of their current tour can be found at the O2 Dublin on the 12th December and will prove to be one helluva party.

If crooning ballads are more your thing, you can find heartthrob Lionel Richie at the O2 Dublin on the 10th December, in support of his Tuskegee Tour. Audiences are never disappointed with his showmanship, stage presence and high-spirited live shows and this one will be no different.

Megastar, Gary Barlow, will be gracing the stage at the Olympia Theatre on the 7th January. He’s come a long way since fronting the hugely successful 90s boy band, Take That, having established a successful solo career as well as becoming a household name due to his role on the X Factor.

Irish grunge rockers, Kerbdog, return to their home city, straight off the back of some hugely successful UK dates. Having kept hold of a huge cult following, they will be playing some of their classic hits with as much energy and gusto as ever before. You can find them at The Academy on the 8th December.

In terms of comedy performances, you can’t get much better than Frankie Boyle, who can be found live at the Olympia Theatre on the 4th December. Providing some of his hugely popular comedy that has made him a star both on and off screen, there won’t be a dry seat in the house by the time he’s finished.

If a festive panto is what you’re after, look no further than Cinderella at the Gaiety Theatre, for what promises to be an amazing, fun filled show that will be a hit with all the family.

Whatever you are travelling to Dublin for, don’t just utilise the daytimes. Evenings are when this vibrant city comes to life and with nearby, affordable hotels, you can enjoy revellery as much as you like.
