San Diego Zoo

San Diego is home to a variety of family friendly adventures to experience.  The accommodations in the city of San Diego are stellar, and there is no shortage of great food.  In addition, the San Diego Zoo houses more than 4,000 animals in more than 800 different species.

The animals may be the biggest reason to visit the city’s zoo, but the destination also hosts a beautiful botanical garden.  The garden features over a million different plant varieties, and you can get up off the ground on the park’s Skyfari aerial tram.

Bronx Zoo

The Bronx Zoo is the nation’s largest metropolitan zoo, stretching over 260 acres of land.  The Zoo has been in operation for over one hundred years, and features animals such as Siberian tigers, leopards, and all sorts of lizards.

The Wild Asia Monorail will take you and your family on a ride through a synthetic safari, featuring elephants, rhinos, antelopes, and more.  The best time to visit this metropolitan zoo, you will want to get started early.  Visit on a weekday or during the off season.

Columbus Zoo & Aquarium

The Director and head dude at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium is the famous “Jungle Jack” Hanna.  You can be sure that your family will not be disappointed with this distinguished zoo that is home to more than 7,000 animals.

A few of the most popular exhibits at the Columbus Zoo include the Animal Encounters Village, a 100,000-gallon coral reef exhibit, and an African forest.  The forest features animals such as bonobos, gorillas, and apes (even the famed Colo, the first gorilla ever born in captivity).

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom features over 500 acres of pure wildlife enjoyment for kids of all ages (that means you too, Dad).  The park is divided into seven carefully thought-out sections: Africa, Asia, Pandora World of Avatar, and DinoLand USA are just a few examples.
