Out and About in the UK in 2013

Soon these winter nights will make way for lovely sunny summer weather – we hope – and so what better time to start thinking about your diary dates for 2013.

Throughout the year there are event and activities being held that can cater for everyone in your family, from the very young to the grandparents, so there’s no reason for anyone to be left out when you are planning days out in the UK

The UK offers some of the world’s best festivals and shows that attracts visitors from all over the world, and so here is a handy guide to help you keep track of the best ones to suit you and your family this summer.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show

This year will be the show’s 100th year and it looks to be an amazing celebration. Thousands of people come to the Chelsea Flower Show every year and it has some of the most impressive and mesmerising displays you’ll ever see. From stunning gardens created by expert designers to food and drink that you can grow in your own allotment, the show has something for everyone.

Latitude

First held in 2006, Latitude Festival has grown swiftly over the years and is popular amongst fans for its relaxed and easy-going atmosphere. And it is not just music performed here; you can find examples of the theatre, art, comedy, cabaret, poetry, politics, dance and literature, making it the perfect destination for families who have very different interests.

FarmFest

FarmFest is a two day music event that has gained a loyal following and began simply as a way for a few friends to enjoy a summer party. The festival is known for promoting unsigned acts and musicians and includes some terrific family-orientated activities such as miniature golf courses, tea-parties and stalls selling alternative arts and crafts.

V Festival

V Festival is actually held at two different venues over the course of two days, with the musical acts swapping over to play at each. Originally started as a rock festival, the event has grown and now attracts a great mix of visitors, both young and older. Great for a spot of family camping as well, this festival gives everyone something to enjoy.

Glastonbury

You can’t have a list of the best UK festivals and shows without having Glastonbury on there. This is a world-famous event that is held every two years and is the single largest festival held in the UK. Started in 1970, Glastonbury includes dance, drama, circus and theatre acts as well as great music. This year’s headlines will be legendary rockers The Rolling Stones and British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac.
