This is due to a rebranding strategy for all of our websites in order to make them more recognizable to the public as part of the new travel marketing company e-Trip Travel Ltd.

Hotels in Ethiopia series

Today I will start a new kind of blog series about hotels located in emerging markets, starting with hotels in african countries. Let´s have a look on what is going on in several african countries regarding the development of hotel infrastructure and the hospitality industry since I believe this is still a field which has not been covered well in todays world media.

I have noticed that in recent years there is a real tourism industry development happening in several african countries, let me exclude some countries like Egypt or South Africa ( for short time ) because they are already well known and developed. It is known that when people read something about tourism in Africa, Egypt and South Africa or Kenya comes in mind but what about the other countries?

One of the cities in Africa experiencing a strong growth in the hospitality industry is the ethiopian capital city of Addis Ababa, where you can find a lot of recently opened hotels and a lot of them are under construction.

What is behind that recent hotel boom in Addis Ababa?

The ethiopian economy is one of the fastest growing in the world, with China as the biggest investor since years. There is a great effort made to implement quality and industry standards, nevertheless there is still much to do but the achieved developments cannot be ignored anymore. The number of visitors to Ethiopia and therefore to Addis Ababa as the gateway to the country, is steadily increasing, whether it is for business or leisure.

The Dreamliner Hotel

A proof of that recent hotel boom is the Dreamliner Hotel in Addis Ababa, a hotel that opened back in 2010 and who is located very centrally. The hotel building is 8 floors tall and it consists of 96 air-conditioned rooms with TV and balcony, 2 restaurants ( one of them is a indian restaurant ), WIFI access in the rooms, a bar with lounge, a business center ( if you want to have internet access here you have to pay a fee of $ 1 per 10 minutes ) sauna and fitness rooms to name a few facilities.

If you want to arrange a sightseeing tour through Addis Ababa the hotel can assist with this. Also an airport shuttle service is being offered here.

The Hotel is located close to banks, restaurants, conference center, bars and cultural attractions. Bole International airport can be reached within 5 minutes via the Bole Road. Points of interest near the hotel are following ones: The Meskel Square, the Menelik´s II palace, the Holy Trinitry Cathedral, the National Museum of Ethiopia ( the most important ethiopian museum with famous archaelogical finds like "Lucy" ) and the St. George´s Cathedral - to name a few attractions in Addis Ababa.

If you are on a business trip or even for holidays keep in mind the name of this hotel. Many travelers recommend that hotel in their reviews because it is not so expensive in comparance to the other 4 stars hotels available in the area ( The Hilton ) and not to forget, the Sheraton which is probably one of the most expensive hotels in Africa itself.

As I want to feature local hotel businesses only, the foreign hotel chains operating in emerging markets will not be featured here.
